A community of fur babies.
Family, dogs, and community. Three of my favorite things. While I could go on and on about family, especially mine, this post is specifically about the animals in my community, the Dogs of Hillsboro. We had the privilege of photographing 13 beautiful fur babies for the Dogs of Hillsboro Calendar fundraiser.
Giving back to our community is extremely important to Mike and me, and the Dogs of Hillsboro fundraiser did just that. For $5 you could nominate your dog and then each dog earned a vote for $1. The top 13 nominated dogs won a custom photo session with us and a month dedicated to them in the calendar. The #1 spot got their choice of the cover or any month. It was amazing to see the bidding/donation war around the end of the contest. There were a few pups that had such loyal followings that friends and family were donating all the way up the very last minute to try and secure their pup’s spot in the calendar (or the cover). It was like watching an eBay auction with all the proceeds going to charity. It was exciting to watch! Clearly, the dogs of Hillsboro had influencer status followers.
Not only did we get to welcome some amazing dogs to the Wag to my Heart family we raised $12,770 for the local small animal shelter, Bonnie Hayes. If you would like to help contribute to the cause, you can submit a tax-deductible donation to Bonnie Hayes here: https://www.co.washington.or.us/HHS/AnimalServices/Donations/donate.cfm

BUTCH – He arrived with an entire entourage.
The citizens of Washington County generously donated to the homeless pets at the Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter. Last year, they received nearly $120,000 in donations. The Dogs of Hillsboro Calendar was $12,770.00 of that. Not too shabby for 3 animal-loving ladies giving back to their community. It just proves that women are pretty badass, and can do anything you put your mind to.
Would you like a custom photo shoot with Wag to my Heart and give back to the community? Participate in The Tails of Portland collectors edition book before it’s sold out. For just $90 you can have your fur baby become a published supermodel.

It was a community effort. 😉
Wow, that is so awesome!!! Nice job!
The most amazing part was being able to hand them over such a large check during the prime of Covid.
Well done on the fundraising for a great cause!

Great photos – great event! Thank you for sharing!
Great fundraiser. I have been talking to my rescue about something similar. I hope we will be able to pull it off.
