The value of hiring a professional photographer.

Hiring a professionally trained photographer provides you with countless benefits.  One of them being your dog should never look GREEN.    This is part of the value you get with Wag to my Heart Portraits, and one of my biggest pet peeves.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5731″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5730″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Why is my dog green?

We’re lucky to live in the beautiful Pacific NW where grass and trees flourish all around us. That rich foliage creates a color cast in the model’s fur.  Lighter fur dogs or older pups that have started going gray tend to be the most affected.   Smaller breeds are closer to the ground making the green cast even stronger.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5727″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5726″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Fun Fact

After we’re 99% finished editing a session we step away from the computer for a short while. Your eyes can start to adjust to the bad colors and no longer notice inconsistencies. Stepping away reboots your eyes.  When I go back to revisit the images I can be confident it’s the correct color. Photoshop for the win!

Software like Photoshop needs to be used because we only want to edit the green out of the fur, not the entire scene. It’s one of many skills we use to make each image top-notch for our clients.  Those little things make the difference.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5733″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5732″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]

The hair on my Chinny Chin Chin

Pay close attention to the chin & white chest in the pictures above and below. You can really see the green color cast there and how we’ve removed it.

Around the Circle

This is part of a photographer’s blog circle.  I’ll have to say there are some pretty incredible pet photographers all around the world. Let’s go check out what some of the other photographers thought about our GREEN topic this week.  Pet Love Photography, serving Greater Cincinnati, the San Francisco Bay Area, and destinations nationwide.

I’d like to leave you with two different images that fit the GREEN topic. Both of which I’m really proud of.  They’ve gone through image competitions and judged by some of the top photographers in the industry.

  1. Kim Hollis says:

Those last two images are amazing! Love them. When I first got into photography, I was editing on a monitor that wouldn’t stay calibrated although I didn’t really see it at the time because my eyes weren’t trained yet to really see color. Everything had a magenta tint to it. Now my phone tends to have a magenta tint to the photos. I am all to familiar with having to desaturate the greens in a photo too…. I often say I live in the land of the trees and that green reflection is definitely an issue!

  2. I am obsessed with the way light-colored fur absorbs light and color. It drives me batty, especially on Bella!

  3. Tracy Allard says:

Wow! Congratulations on the Loan selection! The image is fantastic! And yes, I feel you on the “green, not green”. Sometimes if feels like I spend all day removing color casts!
