Week 3 Fill The Frame
Just like last week I’ll be discussing a photography technique by filling the frame with the main subject.
**If you missed last weeks post about, Rule of Thirds, *click here*.** Another photography technique!
To fill the frame you consume as much of the composition with your main subject. Honestly this is a technique I tend to use a lot.
Here’s a few examples:
If you’re at a rose garden you wouldn’t take the picture of the whole property. Instead you’d select one flower to be your focal point and fill the frame with that one flower.
If you were at a softball game and wanted to take a picture of someone sliding into home plate you wouldn’t include the fans, the other teammates, etc… instead you’d zoom right into that home plate and fill the frame with the action.
Now let’s see what images I can show you using: fill the frame. How about Adorable Noses…!!!
What about cute puppy dog eyes!!!!
As you can tell by these images the subjects fill most of the frame. There’s no distractions or a bunch of negative space. There are no questions who the focus is.
Do you wonder what other’s would do with this theme? You don’t have to wonder. —> This is a blog circle so head on over to Ashley Siemon Photography, serving the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California to see what she has to say about today’s theme, fill the frame.
LOVE your examples! Fun, fun post! 🙂
Thanks Kelly! I love a good zoomed in image.
I absolutely love the first nose shot. Such a sweet senior face. 🙂
It’s almost like I had a treat in my hand and he was coming for it. 😉
Really great examples! I just love how quirky dogs are. 🙂
Me too! The personalities of each dog are so intreeging to me.
Great examples – I love the focus on the nose for a different point of view!
I have this thing with dogs noses. Most people love the eyes or ears which I do adore but their little snouts… I just want to kiss them all.
I love all those shots but the first two made me chuckle….it’s like in the first one, he’s not sure what you’re doing, but in the second he’s on top of it and puts his nose in the air. Lovely!
Those are two different dogs. Ones is a Great Dane & the other is a GSP. Both are big sweet doofs.
Great variety of images! My favorite is the second one of that nose!!! CUTE!
Chuck (aka Charles Barkley) is one of the office dogs. He’s pushy in his mature age. You must administer a good belly rub before getting fully into the office.
These are great! I especially love the last one!
Did someone say TREATS! That fella knocked me over trying to get to it, but I still got the shot.
I love the variety of dogs used. The pug tho!
I work pretty closely with the Portland Pug Rescue here in Oregon. I get plenty of pugs to work with.
I am a wee bit biased here as we all know, but I ADORE that Dobermann image with those little teeths! You really captured the Dobe spirit. I LOVE it! (Ps- I also have a photo of Sapphire looking exactly the same!)
I struggled with that cute pup because the owners had trained their dogs in French. I kept saying SIT……DOWN…. and the dog was like huh? Oh you mean Assis……Couché.
Beautiful work! I look forward to seeing your photos in the weeks ahead.
Thank you! It’s always fun to go through the circle and see what everyone did with the theme.
